Adbijentocht Averbode - Tongerloo 16k

Still a bit tired from the trip to Copenhagen, but I felt like participating in the Adbijentoch, a run in the forest between two Abbies. I haven't been training in between runs, and my lower calves have been a bit sore from walking around the city this weekend. Still a top time for me on the 10 miles. Funny to pass the churches in the forest and see the priests watching the race :-)

Copenhagen running tour

I went to Copenhagen to present at the EU/MEeting and decided to take on a fun way to explore the city on Saturday. I booked a city running tour with running-copenhagen.dk

I met up with Lena at the Anderson statue near city hall and together with 4 danish women and an irish couple, we set out for a 1h40 run around the city. We tracked around 8.5km, stopping at highlights troughout the city. Lena told some interesting facts about the city and it was overall a very fun experience.

Pleasant surprise that the guide also owned fivefingers, was a pose-running coach and read born to run like 9 times. It was a great run/talk/touristic tour and a great way to see the city!

The rest of the trip was nice too, overall I really liked the city. It turns out Denmark is the nation that consumes most organic food :-) Lots of raw food as well. I spent a lot of time in the botanical gardens (including going up the swirly stair), and made it to the top of the Our saviour church :-) Nice for conquering my fear of heights!

It was a tript to remember!

Ladies Run Leuven

While we are on a roll, instead of training this weekend, I just participated in the 10k Ladies Run in Leuven.

Time: 51m30
Gear: vffs Spyridon

It gave me an opportunity to test my new Vibram Fivefingers, the Spyridon. The sole is a lot thinker than my worn out ksos, but I really like them. I have the impression people stare less at my feet ;-)

I've been eating mostly vegan and raw for a large part, I'm pretty sure that contributes to the time I set down ;-)

A pink medal... well, not quite my thing, and a striking contrast with Spartacus earlier this week :-)

Spartacus Run - toughest 10k ever - kso vffs

Wow... this was crazily fun survival run!

Time: 1h04 - 10k with 14 obstacles.
Gear: vffs kso

I started off really fast but had to fall back a little bit, also due to the waiting rows on the obstacles. Overall it was a very fun race and my first survival race!

After running the first 6k in pretty warm weather, the shower was a nice releave! I am just glas I wore fivefingers, because they are a lot lighter when wet than normal soaked running shoes :-)

See you at race against nature in Boom in september!

Antwerp 10 miles

After running 3x 12km on weekends (first time ever so far), I participated in the Antwerp 10 Miles.

It was a great race. Very crowded with 30 000 people, which caused some delays and necessitated the necessary pushing, but I am very happy with my 1h32 time. Gear: VFF KSO.

[pictures coming soon]

Nice to run through my city, including 3 tunnels, some of which keep going... but in the last one, also known as the rabbit whole, the gradual 1250m ascent was celebrated by a scottish bagpipe band :-) what more could we want :-)

Although my feet are a bit sore from running with 3 year old fivefingers on concrete, I looking forward to keep running :)

Antwerp 10 miles here I come!

3 weeks ago I decided to run the Antwerp 10 miles. I hadn't really been running this winter, so it will be a bit exiting tomorrow during the race. I ran 12k a few times as a preparation, actually... it was the first time I ever ran more than 10k ;-)

My running technique is based on Chi Running, which makes a huge difference for me personally anyway. Chi Running uses a natural forward falling motion to keep you going.

I run in a pair of Vibram Fivefingers (KSOs), also a great help for good running technique and good contact with the ground. I ordered a pair of Spyridons but they have not arrived yet ;-)

I ate very light this week, with a lot of salads and fruits. I plan to eat a salad about 2h before the race and then a banana and some figs... hopefully that will keep me totally going. I also have some delicious coconut water to refuel me afterwards...

Read you soon!
